30-Year-old facing charges of fraud

A 30-year-old suspect from Rietspruit is facing charges of fraud. This follows after he produced fake documents to purchase a few items including a refrigerator.

He was arrested on Wednesday, February 1 at Embalanhle after trying to purchase a fridge worth R17 000, base set and a wall unit both costing R9 000 using a fraudulent payslip, Identity Document and bank statement.

The 30-year-old suspect from Rietspruit was arrested for fraud at Embalenhle on February 1.

In a statement released by the HAWKS spokesperson Capt Dineo Sekgotodi said the store manager alleged that the suspect visited the shop on Tuesday, January 31 and shown a wish to purchase the mentioned items. The shop officials suspected foul play and requested him to bring original documents.

The suspect returned that afternoon with the same documents as presented the previous day. His actions led to the manager immediately informing the police who came in and arrested him on the spot.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect sourced all the fraudulent documents from two known foreign nationals.
