Baby Thandeka is in good hands

Thandeka, that was found in the field, is now in good hands and with a loveable family, unfortunately yet another foetus was found in the streets of eMalahleni.

On March 7 at 19:15 a man walking through the bushes in Duvha Park Extension 2 came across the foetus in the field.
He contacted the police who attended to the scene and the Forensic Pathology also went to the scene to collect the foetus.

It is estimated that the foetus was about 20 weeks old; a concealment of death case was opened at Witbank Police Station.

After being abandoned and not having anything at all, except the clothes Thandeka was dressed in and her blanket, she is now being showered with love and care.

According to resources she has been adopted and is doing well.
She was treated for mild jaundice before she was discharged to go to her new family.

Baby Thandeka.

On Tuesday, February 21 at approximately 17:25 as the rain falled, the newborn baby was found in the field close to the main entrance of Puma Stadium by a local security company that noticed a little bundle.

She was placed in the long wet grass. The person who dropped her in the grass made sure that she was warmly dressed but those warm, fluffy clothes would only keep her newborn body, believed to be only one day old, warm for a short while.

ER24 paramedics were contacted to go out to assist as the baby was still alive, she was suffering from hypothermia.
She was taken to eMalahleni Private Hospital where she was stabilized, before she was transported to Witbank Hospital.

It is estimated that Thandeka was born on February 20.
