Accounts problem promised to be resolved soon

Emalahleni Local Municipality wish to inform residents and business people that due to the new budget reforms introduced by the National Treasury for compliance with legislative regulations ‘municipal Standard Charts of Accounts’ (mSCOA), it was deemed necessary for the municipality to change the financial system.

There are currently delays with the billing because of the following issues:

Alignment of our tariff structure to the new financial system.

Inclining block tariff on electricity and the fixed charges combined.

Integrating water and sewer tariffs.

The inability to balance the aged analysis to the ledger (i.e. some debtors were not appearing on the migrated debtors book (Phoenix System).

The municipality will run into a risk of not being able to accurately bill all the consumers if the above issues are not addressed.

The matter is being given the highest priority and it is anticipated that the delays will be resolved soon. The municipality would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused, in the interim consumers are urged to make payments using the previous month’s rates and taxes balances to make payments.

All adjustments will be made in the subsequent consumers accounts which will be issued soon.
