18-year-old girl called for help just before she was raped

An 18-year-old girl was raped after numerous attempts to get help. The incident happened on Saturday, July 29 around 03:00.

The report states that she was sleeping at her home, situated at Masakhane Squatter Camp, together with her five-year-old brother and three-year-old son.

The girl was woken up by the sound of a window being opened. It seems the suspect did not find it difficult to get inside the house as the window has no burglar bars.

The 18-year-old tried to call for help by contacting her mother whose cell phone was off. She then called her neighbour but their cell phones rang unanswered.

After the suspect entered the house he started searching each and every room except the room the victim was sleeping in.

The girl asked who it was and the suspect allegedly responded by saying there was no need for the girl to know who it was.

Shortly after that the suspect asked where her mother was and the victim said she did not know.

The suspect further asked for money to which the girl replied and said she did not have any.

This is when the suspect threatened to rape the girl since she did not have money to give to him.

The 18-year-old was raped and after the nightmare, the suspect left the house using the same window he had used to gain entry.
