Glad gets Best Model of the Year at the awards

The second annual Sunrise Women Awards is one event that is aimed at females and rewarding them for doing well in the province.

One of the recipients is Glad Ndlovu who won Best Model of the Year in Mpumalanga which she describes as Gods grace.

The event took place on Thursday, August 10 at Emnotweni Arena.

Glad is originally from Bushbuckridge but currently resides in eMalahleni. Her modelling profession commenced on November 2015. She said she was overwhelmed by the doors of opportunities that God has opened, especially in runway modelling.

Glad’s journey as a model has been very fulfilling as it has allowed her to explore her natural gifts and abilities.

She mentions that often people live and make life decisions based on what society believes to be possible and attainable and sadly never live beyond those limitations.

“Nine years ago as a young Tsonga girl I saw myself becoming a Chartered Accountant and little did I know that God had deposited in me a great gift that was yet to be discovered,” expressed Glad.

She enrolled with a modelling academy (BU Models) and secured a one year contract as the Face of eMalahleni Flair Opulence. Glad has walked for over 30 designers in various shows namely: The crowning of Miss Mpumalanga, Emalahleni Flair Opulance, Tshwane Fashion Week and Soweto Fashion Week.

“I appeared as a featured model in a number of television shows and was also selected as one of the models by Darling Hair SA for their promotional print material for #SFWAW18 (Soweto Fashion Week Autumn Winter Season 18),”elaborated Glad.

That has been a journey that led to her latest accolade of winning Mpumalanga’s Best Model of the Year.
She appreciates every person that made it possible for her to take the award home, people such as Peniel Community Church, community of eMalahleni, friends, family and everyone who believed in her work. Glad is grateful and humbled for the love and support she has received from everyone.

Glad Ndlovu is Mpumalanga’s Best Model of the Year, so says Sunrise Women Awards.

In a couple of weeks her brand will be launching an ongoing project called Purpose Bodified. This project aims at encouraging young women to have confidence in who they are despite how they look.

“Our bodies should be a source of identity but they should not define who we are, this will be a platform to remind each other that our bodies are aligned with our God given purpose,” said Glad.

She lives by one of Albert Einstein’s quotes:

“Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
