Two cases of rape opened in Phola

Hands Covering Man's Eye and Startled Woman's Mouth

Two girls were raped in Phola, one of which was a 14-year-old, the other a 13-year-old.

On Sunday October 8 the neighbour of the 14-year-old girl discovered that she had been allegedly raped that weekend at Iraq in Phola Location.

The neighbour was advised by another neighbour to approach the police with the matter as the young girl did not want to return to her uncle’s house where she was staying.

The young girl was assisted and taken to the hospital for medical treatment. No arrests have been made as yet. Police are investigating the case.

A 13-year-old girl was raped at Tycoon in Phola Location on September 30.

The complainant, who is the older sister of the victim, alleged that at about 19:30 her younger sister was walking along the street when she was abducted by a man driving a grey Mazda.

The suspect then drove with the girl to Jabula in Ogies and later raped her at a house in Tycoon Phola where he locked her in the home and left her there.

The victim was rescued by her brother and sister the following morning on October 1 at about 04:00 after their search for her bore fruit.

They then took her to Phola Police Station and a case of rape was opened. To date no arrests have been made as police investigations continue.
