The reality of cloning cards is real

This past weekend the cloning of bank cards surfaced in eMalahleni, again.

As this is a huge problem all around eMalahleni, a resident saw this crime first hand on October 29.

Disheartened a resident asked on social media what she can do in such situation after she saw how it happened in front of her.

“While sitting at a restaurant in Highland Mews, waiting for the shops to open, I saw two men cloning cards at the Nedbank ATM. Too willing to help the people withdrawing money, one of the thieves even went after an old ‘madala’ to come back. Still busy doing what they do and keep on looking over their shoulders, I’m on my way to the shops that just opened I stopped by the entrance and asked one of the staff members if they can phone their security because of what I just saw. Unfortunately when security got there they were gone, thus I left the shop and looked around but they were missing in action. One suspect taller than the other had a white hat on and the other a brown jacket, that was about what I could see earlier. After looking if I could spot the two suspects, I recognized the lady with her child that has been at the ATM and running a business from this area. I went straight to the shop and told her sister to check her bank account and stop her card as it was just cloned,” the post warned all residents to be extra careful.
