Christmas came early for the children of the Christelike Maatskaplike Raad (CMR) when they had a sponsored Christmas party. This took place on Wednesday, November 29 and they had a blast when Santa Clause came to hand out presents.
Children from the Christelike Maatskaplike Raad who had a lot of fun during their Christmas party on Wednesday, November 29.
The party was for 52 vulnerable children who are under the supervision of CMR. These children are not orphans and are not residing in children’s homes. Most of these children are in foster care where they reside with foster parents (usually a family member, such as a grandmother) who loves these children and is willing to take care of their daily needs.
Bubbles are a child’s best friend. This was during the Christelike Maatskaplike Raad’s Christmas party on Wednesday, November 29.
However, the finances of the foster families of these 52 children are usually very limited thus making it difficult for the foster parents to provide Christmas clothes and gifts, brand new stationary for the new school year, or even sweets for the children for Christmas. It is for this reason that the CMR decided to host a Christmas party specifically for these children.
Just like children in a children’s home, these children have also experienced many difficulties in their lives, but instead of residing in a children’s home, they were placed in foster care.

Some of these children are residing with their parents, who love them and care for them. The children who are residing with their parents are not abused or neglected at home, it is simply that the parents have an extremely limited budget and cannot afford any luxuries. CMR are supporting these families with monthly food parcels and other assistance.
This year the CMR Christmas party has been sponsored by many incredible organisations that absolutely opened their hearts to the children.
The CMR would like to thank all the organisations involved, and everyone who assisted during the day.
