Avril Street is still not fixed. Six weeks after the first article on May 14, Emalahleni Local Municipality has still not lifted a finger in the street.
The focus fell on Avril Street on May 14 when in less than a week seven vehicles, including a municipal bakkie got stuck in a huge pothole in the street.
The municipality was contacted on Monday, May 14 to put barrier tape around the hole to warn motorists not to drive there. They too got stuck in the pothole.
Matthews Mahepa and Martin Sahowa want to know when the municipality is going to fix Avril Street.
“The budget to repair the damaged street will be tabled for consideration in July and once it is approved, work will start in August. In the meantime we will cut and remove the damaged section, put some gravel,” Mr Kingdom Mabuza, municipal spokesperson said.
The tar in Avril Street washed away the evening of March 18, 2016, when the Blancheville Bridge washed away after heavy rainfall.
