Two people became victims of crime when they were hijacked.
On September 27, Mr Solomon Mhlanga (43-year-old) was driving his manager from eMalahleni to Gauteng.
At about 18:45 along Watermeyer Street, he was turning onto the N12 highway when the truck was hijacked by two unknown men.
He saw unknown men standing alongside the road. Solomon said that one man was flicking a torch at the truck and he stopped the truck because he thought it was a traffic officer.
Before the truck came to a standstill the men opened the passenger door and pointed a firearm at him.
The person that was standing on the road came to the driver’s side and pushed him. They tied his hands with ropes and made him lie face down.
The two men removed the tracker and drove until they left him in a veldt near Etwatwa in Gauteng.
In a separate incident on September 29 at about 23:00, Mr Calphius Mphanga was driving his Volkswagen Polo Classic to his house.
He stopped the car in front of the gate and went out to open the gate. Four unknown men came out of nowhere and grabbed him from the back while the engine was still running.
The unknown men forced him to lie down while the other suspects started kicking him. They got inside of the vehicle, left him outside and drove off with the vehicle.
