Guess you just have to wait your turn

Equipment being sent in for repairs has caused a bit of delay with the processing of license renewal applications.
Mr Jeff Makofane was disappointed to hear that he wouldn’t be able to renew his license when expected.

“I took the day off on yesterday and today and can’t take any more days off,” he said.

He explained how he visited the licensing office on Wednesday, May 3 and was told to return the following day as they were full.

“I was there Wednesday, they told me to come back Thursday, I went again and was told to come back Friday as they were not taking in any more people,” said Makofane, frustrated with the delay.

He added that he wished to renew his truck license and is unable to drive without a valid license.

Mr Kingdom Mabuza, Emalahleni Municipality communications liaison apologised on behalf of the municipality.

“We would like to apologize sincerely to people who get turned away when they come to renew their licenses. The reality is that we currently have only one eye test machine, we have taken the other one for repairs,” he said.

“Our staff members can, on any given day, attend to 80 people, and anyone who comes after 12:00 and we have reached 80, gets turned away,” he added.

He encouraged drivers to come early before midday until such time that the broken machine is repaired.
