Mr Fix-It is gone

The municipal manager, Mr Theo van Vuuren’s term came to an end.

Emalahleni Local Council took a resolution to appoint Mr Sizwe Mayisela to take over the reigns on September 1.
On Thursday, August 31 the Executive Mayor of Emalahleni, Cllr Lindiwe Ntshalintshali bid Van Vuuren farewell during a council meeting when she presented him with a gift.

“Four years, four months and seven days,” Van Vuuren said with a chuckle when he accepted the gift.

Mr Theo van Vuuren is no longer the municipal manager. His term ended on August 31.

“This was a difficult, but life enriching experience. I saw the best and the worst in people and I am glad I could change the lives of people that I came across,” he said.

Van Vuuren said that Emalahleni is struggling because there simply is not enough money.

“There is not enough to do what needs to be done to upkeep the municipality.”

Mr Sizwe Mayisela took over the reigns as municipal manager on September 1.

In his last post on the municipal Facebook page he wrote,

“This page was one of the first initiatives I started during 2013 and I am pleased that it has over time grew to an information platform which has and I trust still will add value in the communication process between the municipality and the public on service delivery issues.”
