In the video the man is seen touching the motor and quickly removing his hand as if he had an electric shock, Boksburg Advertiser reported.

The property owner, who wished to remain anonymous, believes the man was shocked by an electric fence securing the motor.

“It seems the man wanted to dismantle the motor gate in order to gain access to the property.”

The owner called on residents to be on the lookout for the individual.

“Be alert, these guys have no shame. If someone is seen tampering with gate motors in the area, please phone the sector vehicle and CPF,” said the owner.

The owner did not report the matter to the police, because she thought they wouldn’t do anything about it, she said.

In a separate incident, CCTV footage emerged showing two robbers attempting to steal a gate motor in General Alberts Park on the East Rand last year.

In the footage, a man is seen climbing out of a white vehicle that is parked in front of a house in Mopanie Street.

The suspect then rings the intercom several times, seemingly relaxed and trying to ascertain that no one was home. His accomplice gets out of the vehicle a few minutes later to help him break the gate’s rail. He then approaches the gate motor and starts tampering with it while the other man keeps watch.

As the alleged robbers gained entry to the property a neighbour spotted them and the suspects quickly got back into their vehicle and fled.
