To reach the 100 year milestone is a wonderful achievement for a community newspaper.
It proves how valuable the local newspaper is to the community it serves. It could never survive if it was not serving a useful purpose. The 100th anniversary is all the more worthy because WITBANK NEWS did not only survive but has made considerable progress over the years.
WITBANK NEWS has always been a product of its time, but it remains grounded in truth-telling. Driven by a strong ethical foundation, the legacy of this newspaper has been shaped by the history it records.
For the next 100 years we are looking forward to stay our community’s source of local news as a media company, incorporating both print and digital platforms.
I would like to thank our loyal advertisers and readers without whom this celebration would not have been possible. Thank you for the contributions you made to make WITBANK NEWS one of the country’s top community newspapers
It is a privilege and honour to have been part of this proud publication for the last 28 years.
We will continue to serve the community of eMalahleni as best we can and will continue to uphold the policy laid down by Mr OH Frewin upon the publication of his first newspaper in the area, more than 100 years ago.
“It is our intention to criticise whenever we feel criticism is needed and commend when work done is for the benefit of the public. We shall always endeavour to speak openly and fearlessly and to advocate that which in our opinion is right and just…”
